There are several events supported by B.fest 2017 which young people can be part of. Check out the details below and then download a submission form below!

THE GREAT BRIGHTON BAKE OFF

In partnership with City College, 13-19 year olds are invited to enter the competition to bake the best cake for our professional judges. Recorded live with youth comperes, if you think you can bake off, this is the event for you.

When: Tuesday 31st May: 1pm – 4pm  Judging open to the public: 3pm- 4pm
Where: City College, Brighton

Limited Spaces: 1 participant per youth organisation or enter as an individual. 13-19 year olds only – just fill in a submission form!

BRIGHTON’S GOT TALENT!

A song, a scene, a band, juggling, dancing, plate-spinning or anything else you consider your talent! With no more than 5 minutes, impress the judges with your talent! Supported rehearsals, friendly feedback & prizes.

When:  Tuesday 31st May: 7.30pm       Where: BYC, 64 Edward Street, Brighton

Please tell us about your act on the form & we will give you a slot!

B.fest FILM FESTIVAL

Inviting submissions for short films or animations from 13-19 year old film makers & producers. Showing on a big screen at Dukes@The Komedia with free popcorn & after-show discussion.

Please complete a submission form, including a short description of your short film or animation.

When: Screening on Friday 3rd June at 1.45pm – 3.30pm

Where: Dukes@The Komedia, Brighton, BN1 1UN

LIVE MUSIC

We are looking for bands or solo performers who would like to play or sing as part of one of the live music events going on during B.fest week. Whether you an experienced performer or this is your first time, there is a gig for you.

Saturday 28th May: Fringe City (outdoor) Saturday 28th May: Venue B, BYC (indoor) Wednesday 1st June: Spectrum Takeover, The Dome Studio (indoor) Thursday 2nd June: Venue B, BYC (indoor) Saturday 4th June @ The Level (outdoor)

POETS VS MCS: YOUTH TEAM BATTLE

If you are aged 13-19 and want to be a rapper or an mc, a poet, a singer or a sound maker, or you’re just not sure but you like the sound of it, there’s still a chance to be part of the youth team. Meeting Thursdays 5-7pm at Brighton Youth Centre.

About taking part

B.fest is focused on giving young people an opportunity to take part in Arts and Culture Events either as Performers, Exhibitors, Audience or Organisers. We welcome Submissions from any organisations working with Young People including Youth Groups, Arts Organisations and Schools. We also welcome ideas and submissions from groups and individual Young People. Submissions can range from a single drawing to a complete show with venue. We can provide free exhibition and performance space and provide support to get any submissions together.

B.fest Events Team

We think it essential that Young People are at the heart of making B.fest to make it work well. If you are interested in the behind the scenes part of putting a festival together then join the Events team.

The B.fest Events Team will involve training in a variety of roles, a residential and will meet fortnightly on Wed eves from 6.30-7.30pm starting on Wed 13th January, please email Hannah.
